covered in grease from the factory // BRAND NEW PRODUCTION BRAND NEW ARRIVAL BIG HORN ARMORY MODEL 89 500 S&W 16″ SWINGMASTER COMPLETE WITH SIG SAUER OPTIC, CASE, SLING, PATCH, 4 BOXES BUFFALO BORE SLAM-MASTER AMMO! Alaskan guide back up, primary hunter Black Bear, Bison, Elk, Deer, Moose for those whom want to use a traditional lever action firearm out to 200 yards using contemporary 50 caliber slamster rounds. The .500 Smith & Wesson was developed by S&W for a humongoid “Bear Back Up Emergency Kit” which was a revolver as big as my thigh and weighed like 11 lbs or some such; but it was the largest revolver round that could actually be chambered in a revolver (more or less) so it did generate a butt load of sales for S&W selling these kits which were in small suitcases (really) and said “Emergency Use Only” on them. So I guess when you are hiking or Salmon fishing or whatever in Alaska or Detroit you carry this Emergency Use Only suitcase around and then when attacked deploy it. Hey the suitcase had a whistle too, go figure! All that aside some major manufacturers started messing with the round and found it was seriously awesome but frankly just down right slap sided stoopid in a revolver but again hey all the macho man muckety mucks just had to have one.. until they actually shot a revolver in .500 S&W and found the recoil was unmanageable even for macho studs which leads to piss poor accuracy which leads to hiding the 11 lb box of hype in the closet. Or playing a really shitty joke on your friends (ex friends). So we have an awesome cartridge designed for a pistol which weighs too much to carry, is too big to carry, simply cannot be shot 5 times in a row, and since the recoil and concussive blast is so beyond the pale you can’t hit squat. Enter the freaking rifle and or carbine and you have exceptional huge caliber destructive capability with a full spectrum of hunting and or back up uses while tailoring readily in stock ammunition 300 to 460 grains in a smaller more managable contemporary round vs .45-70 for example which is bigger/longer and was designed oh about 1873! Stolen from someone else somewhere “The most surprising result from our test was bullet drop. We assumed a 325-grain bullet would fly like an anchor being thrown from a boat. But with a 100-yard zero, we hit ¼ inch high at 50 yards and 2 ¼ inches low at 150. The bullet still carried 2,758 ft.-lb. of energy at that distance. A 200-yard shot isn’t exactly a lob, either, with the bullet dropping only 7 inches and retaining 2,552 ft.-lb. of energy. Accuracy was better than expected as well. We had .75-inch 3-shot groups at 50 yards, with our best group at 100 yards measuring 1.3 inches. Things got a little wilder at 150 yards, where our best group was 1.75 inches. Considering this is a 2.25-inch straight-walled handgun round, the results were simply stunning”. Now enter Big Horn Armory which was specifically founded to build new age modern lever action rifles around one cartridge- the .500 Smith & Wesson cartridge! Get it? The rifles are all purpose built for this exact cartridge using the finest material and knowledge available in 2018 not 1873!
