300 PRC SUCKS: Ok it is actually a great cartridge BUT consider these facts..
* There are over 50 different commercially available .300 Win Mag loads available today; the .300 PRC supposedly has eight. I can only find 3 available in the PRC.
* The .300 Win Mag is found in every country in the world
* The .300 Win Mag has ammo left over at every guide camp.. in the world
* The .300 Win Mag has monolithic ammo loads for Brown Bear and Bison (the .300 PRC does not)
* The .300 Win Mag is a sniper cartridge utilized at over 1000 yards by your Armed Forces and in use by Homeland Security
300 PRC SUCKS II: If you are going to shoot over 500 yards go with the .300 PRC as it was designed and built for long range shooting and is overall a better performer at longer ranges. Problem is I have never shot game over 550 yards. Typically you would need to back up to shoot game at “1000 yards”. Can you personally state you can shoot an Elk at 1000 yards with one shot? You are that comfortable and that good calling wind? I have been to 5 Gunwerks shooting/hunting schools and have yet to see any shooter hit a 1000 yard game silhouette 5 shots for 5 in the vitals. Never seen it. Ever.
300 PRC SUCKS III: C’mon guys the .300 PRC is truly a great cartridge. Just giving you some facts to mull over. We have several .300 PRC rifles in stock and my last couple successful hunts have been with the .300 PRC Gunwerks Clymr.. but I am going to Alaska on a Moose hunt and taking an 18″ .300 Win Mag!
PSYCHO ACCURATE: My personal Gunwerks Clymr is an 18″ .300 Win Mag which shoots sub 1″ groups off a Gunwerks bipod with a bean bag under the stock. No Ransom Rest. I shoot 5″ groups at 500 yards all day. This rifle will certainly do the same. Note this rifle in Halo Blue has the 20″ Supermatch Carbon Fiber barrel (not 18 inches).
RIFLE DESCRIPTION: ClymR rifle with upgrades including Tungsten Finish, Directional Brake, Halo Blue Carbon, Gunwerks Picatinny rail with Low Pro 2 piece 20 MOA mount, long range package $995 upgrade. This custom Halo Blue Carbon stock scheme is stunning. The itemization for this rifle is in the pictures along with the cost for the rifle and scope only; hard case, bipod, and ammunition are hard adds. ClymR configuration has proven to be the best lightweight stock configuration for hunters. This rifle comes in at 7.2 lbs scoped.
CUSTOM ORDER 20″ CARBON FIBER SUPPRESSOR READY: This 20 inch barrel has the velocity and energy required to humanely terminate an Elk at 1000 yards. If you think you need a 26 inch barrel jump in your hot tub time machine and go back 20 years..
GUNWERKS BDC/LEUPOLD OPTICS: Leupold 3.6-18×44 RH1 MOA is the go to scope for Rockegroup, LLC. Uberlight, superior quality; allows the end user to utilize the .300 Win Mag past 1000 yards no issue. Gunwerks has the Ballistic Drop Compensator (BDC) turret installed, certificated, and zeroed. Tuned with Gunwerks hand loaded ammunition (215 Grain Berger Hybrid) the turret dials to 1300 yards on the first revolution. Target at 550 yards? Turn the turret to 5.5 and hold dead on. 250 yards? “2.5”. Aoudad at 680 yards? Dial to the 6.75 hashmark and rack em. Includes the anti cant device (bubble level) installed by Gunwerks. At 3x power you have a crystal sight picture as close as 15 yards yet can crank to 18x power for your 1000 yard shot.
GUNWERKS BALLISTIC TURRET: The turret says 6000′ and 60 degrees. Your Gunwerks BR4 rangefinder or any new manufacture quality rangefinder is loaded via Bluetooth and automatically adjusts for altitude, temperature, ambient humidity, inclination, declination, and gives you a “shoot to” solution you simply dial on the turret. It does not matter what the info on the turret says if you are using a new quality rangefinder. That said out to about 600 yards it does not matter anyway as the difference is too minute (my-noot not min-it) to be of value anyway.. in other words unless you are shooting over 550 yards it simply does not matter.
LEUPOLD FACTORY TURRET INCLUDED: The factory turret is included which gives you the ability to shoot any .300 Winchester Magnum ammunition in the world using said turret. Simply load the cartridge data via Bluetooth into your rangefinder and it will give you an MOA “shoot to” range. Easey peasey.
5-25 SCOPE YOU ARE NUTS: If you need a 5-25 scope you had best be a top tier match shooter or military sniper shooting past 1400 yards. An experienced hunter knows you cannot shoot an animal at 400 yards at 25x for numerous reasons (ok you can but you are a ding dong) and also knows parallax (mirage) will kill you at 25x and you will have to dial down and at 5x you cannot make a close range kill for squat and at 25x you will never find your animal after recoil for a follow up shot and and ad infinitum.
GUNWERKS LONG RANGE PACKAGE: Gunwerks upgrade includes barrel break in, scope validation, data package, ballistic turret, tuned rifle with ammunition, rifle zero.
INTERNAL FLOORPLATE MAGAZINE: This rifle has an aluminum hinged floorplate (internal magazine) that holds four rounds. We can argue all day about an external DBM detachable box magazine vs an internal magazine but all my personal rifles have hinged floorplate internal magazines. You will lose your external magazine. Or leave it in your coat. Or leave it at camp. Or at home. You will fail to seat the magazine and/or you will inadvertently eject it while hunting. It holds the same amount of rounds as my internal magazine but the DBM sticks out of the bottom of the rifle so it will snag and preclude you from sliding it on your pack while prone (which you are shooting off of). My magazine never gets lost or misplaced as it is a part of my rifle. Want me to go on?
CALIBER .300 WINCHESTER MAGNUM: This rifle configuration takes all North American Big Game to include Brown Bear. This cartridge has the ability to extirpate game past 1000 yards. No reason this cartridge could not be your “one gun” cartridge. Deer and antelope are fair play and the .30 caliber covers the full spectrum of huntable game. Recoil for me is a non issue; with the Gunwerks brake and stock configuration it is akin to a .308. This configuration at 7.2 lbs puts it in the arena for Bighorn Sheep, Dall Sheep, Mountain Goat. Qualifies as a “Mountain Rifle”.
COST/BUILD: The itemization for the rifle only NO BIPOD NO HARD CASE NO AMMO is in the pictures $10,939. You can confirm this by going to the Gunwerks Rifle Builder and building your own.. with a 6 month wait time. Ours ships tomorrow! Az pays tax visa mc discover AMEX add 3.5%
