HORIZON VENATIC CUSTOM .300 WIN MAG SWAROVSKI ILLUMINATED Z6 SCOPE, SWAROVSKI CUSTOM TURRET, HILL COUNTRY RIFLES ZERO WITH BOX AND TURRET VALIDATION, HS PRECISION HARD CASE +++
CUSTOM HORIZON VENATIC SHIPPED TO HILL COUNTRY RIFLES FOR CUSTOM SWAROVSKI SCOPE INSTALLATION 200 YARD ZERO, CHRONOGRAPH FOR THE CUSTOM SWAROVSKI TURRET CAP.. the custom ordered Swarovski turret cap was tuned for this rifle and has a numerical turret numbered 200 to 750 yards. Target at 550 yards? Turn the turret to “5.5”. Moose at 475 yards? Turn the turret to “4.75”. Turret is “tuned” for this rifle so there is no holdover.
HORIZON VENATIC: The Venatic offers a lighter long range crossover. Built on the EKO stock from iota, featuring a vertical grip carbon fiber stock, it provides a solid long range foundation whether on the range or in the field. The Venatic also features a TriggerTech trigger, Benchmark stainless steel barrel, and Horizon Stiller action and is guaranteed to shoot 1/2 inch groups with premium ammo. Try 1/3″ inch groups at 100 yards with Federal Premium 165 Grain TSX cartridges. Shoots all .300WM cartridges including the 220 Grain.
STOCK: Better than the Venatic X as this stock has a long flatter bottom for shooting off of packs, bags, etc. In addition it is one of the few stocks that has a correct thumbpad. Your thumb does not wrap around the stock nor lie alongside your forefinger; it “rests” directly vertical on the stock which aligns your hand properly for correct trigger control. In addition this Iota EKO stock has one fat ass pistol grip which is simply freaking awesome!
BENCHMARK CUSTOM BARREL: Benchmark is one of the top three barrel makers in the world. You simply cannot rank those three for numerous reasons but Horizon was able to get Benchmark to make a thicker barrel with spiral fluting which turns out is more advantageous than standard fluting. Spiral pattern decreases weight to the level of a light contour, increases rigidity, and produces a much larger exposure for increased/faster barrel cooling. It also looks phenomenal.
TRIGGER TECH TRIGGER: Enhances accuracy and precision by utilizing CLKR Technology™, and with some additional hand refinements, the pull weight on the trigger is quickly and confidently adjusted from an externally accessible set screw. Due to the exceptionally crisp break shooters report the pull weights feeling ~0.5lbs lighter than a friction based trigger of the same measured weight. Provides a true zero-creep break, extremely short overtravel and offers outstanding reliability, even in the harshest environments. Trigger feels as if it has a 2lb break now and is perfect..
STILLER ACTION: Stiller had the best rep in the industry for custom builds using their actions. So Horizon Rifles bought em. Go figure. These units have the DBM detachable Box Magazine and the rifle holds six rounds of .300 Win Mag.
.300 WINCHESTER MAGNUM CARTRIDGE IS OBSOLETE: Hahaha pretty funny. The .300 WM has bullets from 150 Grain to 220 Grain with bullets and cartridges manufactured specifically for all North American game from Whitetail deer to massive Brown bear.. umm, Brown Bear are larger than Grizzly bear Alex. I just checked ammo availability for the .300 Win Mag with one of our distributors and there are exactly NINETY loads available. Today. Now. Keep in mind every outfitter in the world has .300 Win Mag cartridges lying around. Africa, Asia, Russia, Poland all have tons of .300 Win Mag. The U.S. Military still uses the .300 Win Mag as a sniper platform. Your next door neighbor has .300 Win Mag.
.300 WINCHESTER MAGNUM OBSOLETE PART DEUX: Ok cheap advise. If’n you are going to shoot at game over 600 yards buy a .300 PRC or one of the new super duper 1500 yard cartridges. If you are like me and have no desire to back up so you can brag about a 1000 yard shot you took on game why bother? Ammo for those ELD cartridges are more expensive, have less availability, and have no benefits under 600-700 yards vs the .300 Win Mag.
.300WINCHESTER MAGNUM OBSOLETE PART III: Roxie shot the largest recorded Brown Bear on Wood-Tikchik island in Alaska (not the park kids) which stood for about 14 hours. Then I shot the largest Brown Bear on Wood-Tikchik Island in Alaska. I have no idea if’n anyone has shot a larger one since then but I reckon someone has.. hey, regardless. Both were shot with a .300 Win Mag, one shot drop. Roxie shot hers under 40 yards when it came around a point (fascinating story) and I shot mine from a small aluminum skiff at 250 yards. We have taken all North American game with a .300 Win Mag and never had a lethality issue.
SWAROVSKI Z6i SERIES OPTICS: Rockegroup is a Swarovski dealer and for this custom build chose the Z6i Illuminated 2.5-15 x 44 HD. This is the perfect scope for this rifle and caliber. Alex needs a 25x for his 500 yard shots but hey someone has to say it.. Alex is a dumbass. At 25 x parallax is going to cause you some issues and at 500 yards on 25x you can see squat to make an ethical shot as your FOV is literally “tunnel vision”. No time for more BUT this scope at 2.5x allows the ethical hunter to engage at 25 feet yet stretch to 880 yards when at 15x. I personally do not want a scope that has it’s lowest power setting as a 5x as it precludes closer shots; 30, 40, 50 yards out. The 44mm objective leaves a sweet low profile to this ensemble.
HILL COUNTRY RIFLES: Invoice and itemization for the custom Swarovski install on Nightforce rings is in the pictures. Install, box test, 200 yard zero, chronograph, custom turret.. and a few months in time to get done.
HS PRECISION HARD CASE: Hard cases, for the most part, suck. Gunwerks ships their rifles in massive mongo huge hard cases and charges $350 each fro rm. Not practical. Too big as are nigh to all the others. Steyr makes a good one but you need a set of keys for the latches = not practical. The HS Precision case is fitted for this rifle and is purrfect. Slim, slender, exact correct length yet extremely tough. Airline approved. Four latches are turn locks (no keys) with padlock locations x2.
COST/BUILD: Got 6 months build your own. Order up a custom Venati with muzzle brake (not capped) for $3900. Their website say’s $3500 and I cannot figure out why ours are more. Must be “better”. Find and buy a Swarovski Z6i illuminated 2.4-15×44 HD $3110. Note when you price check it is the Z6i NOT the Z6.. the Z6 is not not illuminated the Z6i is Illuminated! Custom order an H.S. Precision rifle case $333. Ship everything to Hill Country Rifles $137 and wait awhile. Their invoice is in the pictures for $698. Total to build your own cracks $8178. Then add GB fees..
