MAGNAPORT SMITH & WESSON .44 MAGNUM L FRAME FULL BOAT CUSTOM BEAR BACK UP 3 of 3

$3,877.00

Description

SMITH & WESSON .44 MAGNUM (ONE NOT THREE YOU ARE BUYING ONE ) IN AN L FRAME REVOLVER (MEDIUM FRAME) BLUEPRINTED HAND BUILT MAGNAPORT PREMIER CUSTOM MODEL 69 WAZOO UPGRADES CLASS III PURE INSANITY OVER THE TOP! THREE IN THIS CONFIGURATION WITH BOBBED HAMMERS IN THE WORLD! Hey before we even start; these builds took the premier Master Gunsmith at Magnaport exactly 20 months to build. Twenty month wait time. 20 months. These will be the ONLY units in this configuration ever built.. cause it takes TWENTY MONTHS to build ONE. And Alex for the third time price is for ONE. Not three. These custom 44 Magnum pistols have .357 or lesser felt recoil with the Magnaport work and custom recoil absorbing grips. Although the build sheet is in the pictures highlights include Jewelled trigger/hammer, custom bobbed hammers, high polish cylinder flutes and screws and pins, full blown action job, full compensated MagNaPort treatment, numbered cylinder chambers.. cylinder chambers are numbered 1-5. Load as you see fit; hiking in the desert cylinder #1 is Snakeshot, cylinder #2 is Crical Duty JHP, 3-5 full bore Buffalo Bore loads for Mountain Lions or what have you. Again numbered cylinders give you an option as to what your loads are; simply allows you to carry a versatile packed cylinder. Remember, however, the cylinder rotates counter-clockwise so when you close the cylinder #5 must be under the hammer; when you pull/press/jerk the trigger the cylinder will rotate and fire what is in the #1 chamber. Right? Okey dokey.. we also wanted fast large acquisition emergency sights and contacted XS sights. They built us some tritium XS Big Dot Tritium day/night sights which turn this into a fast acting beast! Since these are for Bear back-up and you will be using Buffalo Bore (or equivalent) full boat .44 Magnum loads we wanted to tame recoil even further. After contacting Hogue we were able to acquire custom built Foliage Green X tamer grips; the same grips that are on the .500 S&W pistols and help tame that beast. As an aside the S&W .500 in a pistol is a complete nonsensical waste of time nay, let me be frank, a freaking complete and utter waste of time. Worthless. Know why there are so many used ones on the market? They were shot once and the idjit that bought it immediately albeit shamefully dumped it. Bobbed hammers means these are double action only emergency bear/outdoor back up revolvers. No thinking pointing and pulling..

MASSIVE SUPER DUPER IMPORTANT DISCLOSURE: So I got this email that the gent wants to shoot Buffalo Bore 343 grain 44 Magnum +P+ cause it is great for bear protection. NO IT IS NOT. It is nigh to useless for bear protection! On the face of it sounds good but let’s get the big picture. Those rounds are nearly identical to the .460 S&W and the .500 S&W which are worthless pistols for bear back up yet that is what S&W advertised them for.. at one time. They actually shipped in a suitcase with a whistle, bear spray, pistol, etc and weighed over 5 lbs loaded. S&W no longer advertises these for bear back up they are now “hunting pistols” but I digress. An average shooter can shoot ONE of these monster rounds round every 2 seconds. ONE. Recoil and concussive blast is not manageable to shoot any faster. Bear charge is over in two seconds which means due to recoil and concussive blast you shot ONE time and probably missed. These .44 Magnum revolvers shooting  240-grain Buffalo Bore loads allow a semi-trained shooter to put FIVE rounds on target in 2 seconds. FIVE. Gee.. I got a bear with one 343 grain bullet or I got a bear with five 240 grain bullets =  1200 grains of bullets in it. You tell me which is better? In short even a novice shooter will put twice as many rounds on target vs the useless (for bear back-up) 343 grain bullet. The 240 grain projectile carries roughly 1,600 ft.-lbs. of energy at 1550 fps, which is more than double that of the 10mm and four times more energy than the 9mm. In shorter versions like the Smith & Wesson 69 with 3-inch barrel, the .44 Mag. has a well-deserved reputation as a charge-stopper.

COST/BUILD: Price includes the finest back country carry holster a custom built Kenai center chest holster which can be worn over or under heavy clothing and is comfortable to the point of not knowing it is there. Instantaneous access. $175. Find a brand new S&W Model 69 in .44 Magnum for $800 shipped; send to Magnaport for work as described and shown in the invoice in the pictures. Twenty month wait. 20 months. $1125 shipped both ways your cost for the Master Gunsmith’s work. Call XS sights for complete front and rear tritium XS Big Dot day/night sights $135 (installed by Magnaport purchased by us see invoice). Contact Hogue for a custom set of OD Green 500X tamers, recoil absorb, $200. Yep. $200. They will NOT make them for you, they are non-catalog custom orders. Dealer profit for 20 month plus wait and loss of funds is $595 USD. Too much? Turn the page and move along! Bye Bye! Airline approved Pelican case $100. Your cost if you could build one would run $3130.  Az pays tax visa mc discover AMEX add 3.5%

BACK STORY: As big game hunters we have for over a decade looked for the penultimate bear back up revolver. We had Bowen build us some .50 AE pistols which, frankly, are awesome.. except ammo is difficult to find and you need moon clips. During that decade gunpowder and bullets evolved 1000 fold from the prior decade; Buffalo Bore, Choice, and others began making full power .44 Magnum loads which could literally be used offensively (hunting) all North American Big Game. Huge deal; but now you have some recoil to deal with. So we wanted a revolver with ammunition available worldwide (.44 Magnum) but with recoil which was not wrist shattering. First we started hounding S&W to build a .44 Magnum in a medium sized “L” frame revolver for a couple years. No no no you need a massive frame to withstand the .44 Magnum cartridge. Bullkwap. We had one built on our own and POW suddenly S&W decides they can make a .44 Magnum in an L frame. Go figure. So now we have the S&W Model 69 in .44 Magnum. You can practice with light .44 Special loads and use full boat loads when you are in the back-country. Awesome. BUT we are looking for the penultimate back country carry revolver which means we wanted it ALL. Recoil need to be whacked by 30% so .44 Special loads are on par with a .38 Special, and full boat .44 Magnum loads acceptable at .357 levels. Enter Magnaport. Compensated pistols slashed recoil but not enough; needed recoil absorbing grips.. enter Hogue. Hogue decided they can make full sized .500 Smith& Wesson recoil grips for these; at a price. Once installed with Magnaport work voila we were in! While we were in we told em to tear it down to every screw, part, piece, hone em and hand fit em, polish em and ring em. Brand each cylinder, numbered 1-5. Premier action job = soooper smith double action which boogles the mind. Completely bob the hammers so they cannot be “cocked”. Your job with these is to pull/press/jerk the trigger as fast as you can in an emergency situation BUT make no mistake the absolute slickest trigger work results in an exceptionally accurate revolver for those experienced in the actual art of proper revolver usage. Result as shown! See invoice for complete description but highlights include the pistol de-horned deburred, high polish cylinder flutes, jewell trigger and hammer, rebuild and bob hammer, new XS fast acquisition sights, non-catalog Hogue’s. Will never be another. Twenty months is too long so this is it!
