Description

SMITH & WESSON NON CATALOG PERFORMANCE CENTER 44 MAGNUM +P HUNTRESS WITH TRIJICON SRO RED DOT SIGHT AND 300 ROUNDS PREMIER AMMO CUSTOM ORDER S&W GREEN TAMER GRIPS..

REVOLVER: S&W Model M629 Performance Center 629-6 .44 Magnum or .44 Special six shoot SA/DA revolver. They actually made an awesome hunting revolver and then named it “COMPETITOR”, and then make what they call hunting revolvers which suck. More on that later. Why an awesome hunting revolver? Weighted barrel keeps you steady and on target, mitigates recoil, allows faster follow up shots. Weights on the barrel can be removed if desired but this is not what I would consider a bear back up revolver as it is longish with the 6 inch barrel and too heavy to hump around UNLESS it is your dedicated Black Bear, Deer, hunting firearm. Alex believes an 8 inch barrel is more accurate than a six inch barrel in this format but alas Alex is a dipwad whom is clueless. The accuracy between the 6 inch and 8 inch is the same; the extra 2″ only adds weight and helps further stabilize the firearm so the SHOOTER is more accurate; not the firearm. Issue is alleviated with this revolver with a weighted barrel! Performance Center has blueprinted this firearm and done a complete Action Tune. Double Action is sweet but this will be used (hunting) as a single action which has been perfected by the Performance Center. Could not ask for better! Yeah yeah you can use for competition but this shines as a hunting revolver for mid sized game and bruins!

HUNTING + .500 S&W SUCKS: First off you are hunting deer and black bear inside of 50 yards typically 25 yards or under. Full boat .44 Magnum loads have the ability to take all North American game today with the leaps in science re: powder and bullets. The .460 and .500 S&W loads are for wannabes for the most part. Ain’t I a macho man! They shoot them once, cannot hit the side of a barn, and are terrified to shoot them again; which is why you can buy them so cheap on the used market. There is a company that makes some nice 16 inch rifles for those calibers though! The .44 Magnum is stout enough as is regarding recoil, yet with the upgraded X tamer grips and the heavy weighted barrel you are ok!

OPTICS: Guess I am on a roll but truth be told scopes on a 6 or 8 inch pistol are a joke (and suck) also. You simply cannot find the proper eye relief with ease and a magnified optic on a pistol makes your sight picture look like a kaleidoscope. Why do you need a 4x or 6x scope on a pistol you realistically are not going to shoot over 120 yards anyhoo? Cause you are inexperienced and they told you so! This pistol has a one MOA red dot Trijicon SRO which allows you to easily acquire the red dot and target out to 100 yards with ease. Keep in mind your typical shot will be 25 yards or less! Gonna shoot 100 yards you better practice a lot AND always always shoot from a steadied position (rest) when hunting. And you are shooting single action when hunting, right? You cocked the pistol just prior to the shot, correct?

GRIPS/RECOIL: The .44 Magnum recoils with full boat loads.. a bunch. It is not an enjoyable firearm to shoot. Period. This pistol has had the recoil substantially tamed with the weighted barrel yet it ships with rubber Hogue grips that are bare in the back. In other words the steel grip of the pistol is in direct contact with your palm. If your hand is in direct contact with the actual steel frame of the revolver where does the recoil impact and where is it absorbed? Yep. Your palm. Raw meat. All the remaining recoil is absorbed by your soft kind smooth meatless hand. Whatcha think that feels like? Rambling again but few firearm engineers are shooters or they would not half ass a premier pistol like this by throwing on grips for a .38 Special. Hogue invented X frame tamers for the S&W .500 to attempt to alleviate or “tame” that caliber (to no real avail). We contacted Smith & Wesson and had branded S&W full wrap Hogue proprietary recoil tamers installed on this pistol so there is no meat to steel contact. They are awesome!!

AMMUNITION: Gotcha covered with 300 rounds premium ammunition. 1))) 100 rounds premier grade HSM Bear Load 305 grain. 2))) 100 rounds PMC 44B 180 grain .44 Magnum JHP Jacketed Hollow Point. 3))) 100 rounds PMC 44SB .44 Special JHP Jacketed Hollow Point.

COST/BUILD: You can buy this revolver on Gunbroker for $1550 shipped. Find a Trijicon SRO 1 moa for $659, call Trijicon for a Weaver quick release mount; not a “bolt” mount a QR mount as shown. $125 if you can find a QR mount. Green S&W tamers are $200 USD. Non catalog, you cannot buy them from Hogue or S&W. Ammunition in .44 magnum is going over a buck a round right now. Premier HSM 305 grain Bear Loads are $60 shipped for 50 rounds! Call the ammo at $325 and ours is in stock! Total if you could get this build would run you $2859. Az pays tax visa mc discover AMEX add 3.5%
