Description

TAYLORS & COMPANY RIDGE RUNNER BROWNING TAKE DOWN .45-70 LEVER ACTION HUNTER / GUIDE GUN WITH AIMPOINT RED DOT, CASED AMMO, SLING, SCABBARD // Price is for one rifle and accessories as described. Ships as a “Pick up and Shoot” package with optics zeroed; simply pick up, load up, and shoot.. OR unfired your choice!

RIFLE: Some sporting rifles are just too good to die and a classic example is the 1886. These new models are produced with modern metallurgy and a twist rate suitable for today’s higher performance hammer ammunition. It is the perfect choice for hunters and guides looking for a hard-hitting lever action and for lever action enthusiasts. This custom “Black Out” Ridge Runner Take Down Rifle features a matte black finish vs standard chrome, has black rubber soft touch over walnut stock & forend, a half octagonal barrel, integrated Skinner peep & weaver rail rear sight, front fiber optic sight, sling mounts, D-shaped lever, and a muzzle brake. A threaded cap is included if the muzzle brake is not used and the muzzle brake thread is 5/8 x 24. Suppressor ready. The take down action disassembly is the same as an original 1892 take down disassembly and has interrupted threads on the receiver to allow removal of the barrel. Topside picatinny mount, forward.

CALIBER: The .45-70 cartridge using today’s powders and bullets is capable of destroying all North American game. Manufacturers make bullets and cartridges for humanoid self defense, deer hunting, elk hunting, moose hunting, black bear, brown bear, and yes the monstrous polar bear. New propellants and bullets give the hunter and guide the assurance needed for take down all Big Game.

LEVER ACTION: The lever action rifle has a formidable reputation for dependability in adverse conditions and is the preferred action for timber, close quarter, adverse weather, and yes lever action enthusiasts of which there are a few. Awesome hammer out to 300 + yards. Premier guide gun as the 18 inch barrel is “set back” and allows the carbine to carry easy. This specific rifle has an oversized lever for glove use but does not slow use without hand coverings. If the end user wants to “shorten” the OAL the 3″ brake unscrews and an end cap screws on.

AIMPOINT MICRO T2: Aimpoint red dot in the Micro T2 configuration maintains the streamlined overall configuration of the carbine and in this low mount format insures instant red dot “pick up”. The 2 MOA dot allows the end user instant acquisition from inches on out; at 200 yards the moa dot is 4 inches on target allowing for Big Game use. That said in reality the dot appears to be approx 8 inches on target BUT the dot size “appearance” is dependent on the setting or intensity of the dot itself. Aimpoint should be left on from your wake up call till you get home.. it has a 5 year battery life and is waterproof past 80 feet. Five year battery life. Easy to pick up in the rain, fog, bruising cold.

AMMUNITION: Hornady 45-70 Government 250 Grain Monoflex #82741. With a 200 yard dead on zero this bullet has, at 300 yards, a 27″ drop and hits 6″ high at 100 yards. Not freaking bad. Flex Tip® technology of MonoFlex® bullets provide higher ballistic coefficients and velocity increases of up to 250 fps over traditional flat point loads while still providing shock-absorbing safety in tubular magazines. New propellants provide maximum muzzle velocity at conventional pressures, resulting in flatter trajectories and more downrange energy. Exceptional accuracy and overwhelming downrange terminal performance. Outperforms conventional loads for high weight retention, delivering up to 40% more energy. “MonoFlex® bullets offer hunters a solid that won’t separate, and when recovered, retains 95% of its original weight. Copper alloy differs from solid copper in that it is harder, tougher and does not foul or increase pressure the way solid copper bullets do. Upon impact, the patented Flex Tip® design initiates immediate expansion, even at the lower velocities often encountered in mid to long range lever gun shooting situations. Its deep penetration and high weight retention combine to produce yet another accurate, deadly and dependable choice for lever gun hunters”.

SLING/SCABBARD: Unit ships with an adapted Magpul sling with two end fasteners and the adjustable MS4 sling system. For those of you whom know me yes I say your hunting rifle belongs in an Eberlestock pack.. exceptin if’n you are timber hunting or a guide. At that point this sling allows the rifle to be in a frontal body position, barrel down, ready for immediate use. Scabbard fits the rifle with the sling and Aimpoint attached. Mount on your vehicle seat, pack, horse, mule, wall, chair, partner whatever. Straps galore to insure secure tie down but the carbine slides out aka John Wayne. Ish.

COST/BUILD: There is a chrome one on GB for $2200 shipped. Aimpoint Micro T2 $910 includes mount, Magpul adapted MS4 sling $111, scabbard $88. Five boxes, 100 rounds ammunition premier Hornady 82741 is $77 per box on GB = $385. Total if you could get one and the components would run you $3694. Then add GB fees..
