NIGHTHAWK CUSTOM/ROCKEGROUP, LLC: These pistols were built 100% by Nighthawk Custom to both Nighthawk Custom and Rockegroup specifications. Bob Reeves is the head of the Nighthawk Custom shop and ran these custom builds start to finish.
COLT SERIES 70: The base platform for these stunning pistols is from a limited run of Colt’s Series 70 1911 pistols. They were custom built by Colt as “Naked Slide” pistols in the “white” and delivered to Rockegroup, LLC without sights. Units were subsequently shipped to Nighthawk Custom for the final “build”.
- Complete Reliability Package: Polish, radius, and tune extractor. Adjust ejector for positive ejection. Polish the breech face. Hand fit slide stop. Throat the barrel/polish chamber and throat. Adjust feed ramp angle and polish feed ramp. Change recoil spring (Nighthawk). Hand fit and set magazine release for “drop free” magazine operation.
- Action Tune Package: This work includes polishing, tuning and adjusting the internal components to ensure that the gun will run reliably under a variety of conditions using a wide spectrum of ammunition.
- Prep, Dehorn for EDC carry: Grade 2. Bevel edges of slide and frame; dehorn all controls and small parts. Blend rear of slide to frame. Blend grip safety to frame.

NIGHTHAWK CUSTOM SIGHT PACKAGE: Fit and install Novak Lo-Mount Carry 1911 Tritium Dot Ghost Rear Sight. Fit and install Tritium Mega Dot .180″ Glow Dome Orange Front Sight. These are the fastest acquiring sights available. Massive U notch rear sight with a single tritium dot, high vis front sight. Utilizes the “8” ball system. Simply put the front sight circle above the rear sight tritium “dot” and rock. These sights are faster than any red dot and any iron sights currently on the market to include the XS system. Over 90% of civilian and LE gunfights occur in the 5′ range (CQB close quarter battle). Red dots are great on a handgun for 25 yard silhouettes but are horrific for CQB, mainly due to acquisition time.
NIGHTHAWK CUSTOM NITRIDE FINISH: At 64 HRC, nitride is just six units below a diamond finish at 70 HRC. This means that the metal is solid and durable. This increase in the metal’s strength insures the firearm is better protected and results in a high resistance to erosion. Performs exceptionally well in areas with extreme temperatures, including cold, and places where the gun parts will be exposed to abrasives such as sand in the desert. A nitride finish’s smooth surface also means that the gun will be easier to clean and will need much less lubrication to keep it in good working order.

SIX (6) WILSON COMBAT 800-45FS8AB MAGAZINES, 1911 ETM-V VICKERS DUTY MAGAZINE .45 ACP, 8 ROUND, FULL SIZE, ALUMINUM BASE PAD, STAINLESS STEEL BEAD BLASTED FINISH: Finest 1911 magazine ever manufactured to Larry Vickers specifications and apparently manufactured by CMC (Chip McCormick) whom Wilson Combat bought out. Awesome +P rated magazines; no longer manufactured or available since Larry Vickers ex Special Forces (Green Berets) ex Delta pled guilty to two felonies for illegally obtaining and selling fully automatic weapons and will be residing in a federal penitentiary shortly. Wilson Combat wasted no time scrubbing his name from their entire product line but that does not change the fact that these are simply the finest magazines ever manufactured. These magazines are running $62 each shipped at Mile High and Optics Planet today. Google them and you will find an entire book dedicated to extolling the merits of these proprietary magazines. Magazines ship in a Galati magazine holder as shown in the pictures.
TEST TARGET: Certificated target from Nighthawk Custom. All rounds shoot through the same hole.. at 36 feet. Thirty six feet with the Novak sight system installed and all rounds touch or go through the same hole. Thirty six (36) feet. Over 90% of gunfights occur within 5 feet. Standard response is a non issue. Precision shots non issue.
SAFARILAND ALS: Law Enforcement ALS locking holster, Safariland. Military/LE paddle or belt loop rig either/or. The paddle is removable and the belt loop system attaches in it’s place if desired. Paddle has a “latch” to lock onto your belt so the holster itself cannot be snatched and in addition has the ALS automatic locking system. This does not have the shroud over the ALS making it the fastest unlocking holster in the world. On your draw your thumb while grabbing the butt of the pistol automatically releases the lock. Highly concealable, rides close to the body with a slightly forward weapon cant. Suede lining to protect the gun’s sights and finish. We keep all of our pistols in these holsters in the paddle configuration wherever they are. Literally. In the center console, office drawer, bedroom, everywhere. First there is an element of security with them in an ALS holster and second we can pick the ensemble up at any time and pop it on immediately. The ALS system works on the premise that in a CQB scenario your opponent will attempt to “snatch” your weapon. Unless your opponent has specific knowledge and prior use of this ensemble they will be unable to unlock the holster and release the firearm.
SYNOPSIS: The ubiquitous influence of the Series 70 is felt and seen in every premier 1911 build today. These stunning customs not only pay homage to the original Series 70 but elevate the platform to the “top”. Stunning to look at and admire. COST/BUILD: You cannot build these pistols simply because you cannot get Colt to make a run of them for you. You can acquire a new Series 70 for around $1190 and ship to Nighthawk for their Colt’s package.. $2800 with shipping. Custom sights as described with machine cuts another $309 with installation. Additional custom engraving $303. Upgraded G10 medallion grips installed $111 (with bushings). Eight Wilson Combat ETM-V magazines are $68 each x 6 = $408. Include the LE ALS holster as described.
