HILL COUNTRY RIFLES CUSTOM LONG RANGE SUPERMATCH HUNTER .338 WINCHESTER MAGNUM SHOOTS 1/3″ @ 100 YARDS = 2″ @ 600 YARDS WITH FACTORY AMMUNITION! 1/3″ at 100 yards. With factory ammo. Rifle is a 100% custom hand built as a short 18″ barreled lightweight .338 custom for use on all North American game out to 900 yards. Premier Leupold Mark 5 HD tuned to this rifle, these bullets. Rifle is zeroed for this scope with the included ammunition. Completely set up and done with barrel break-in, zero and tuned to 9oo yards. Recoil non issue as brake, stock, and set up cuts felt recoil to .308 levels.
NOTE TEST TARGET GROUP: These bullets are .338″ of an inch wide. Think about it. To shoot a 1/3″ group the bullets would have to go through the exact same hole. Bullets all touch on the test target but officially they measure .368 of an inch at 100 yards.
WHY .338 WINCHESTER MAGNUM?? Got caught up in the 1000 yard shooter with all the new cartridges we all just gotta have; ELD and VLD bullets in the latest greatest fastest long distance 1000 yard no 1500 yard no 1800 yard barrel burners. Problem is I will not shoot at an Elk at 1000 yards. Nor 800 yards. Maybe 700 yards if conditions are perfect cause I cannot call wind well enough to insure a one shot kill. Frankly few in the world can past 1000 yards in ONE shot. Rifle is a brand new hand built unit from Hill Country Rifles and will take all North American game to include Brown Bear. Purpose built for Elk, Moose, and Bear these rifles have readily available ammunition for the largest sheep, goats, and yet have ammunition for deer to boot. Invoice for the RIFLE ONLY (no scope no mount) with itemization is in the pictures. Every upgrade, every option with the DBM detachable Box Magazine. Premier Hill Country Rifles muzzle brake. This was custom built with integral flush cups for a sling (quick detach), picatinny rail for bipod, arca-swiss mount for tripod.
PREMIER OPTICS: If you think you need a 5-25x scope to shoot 600 yards you are, frankly, “all wet”. Wrong. Lightweight illuminated premier Leupold Mark5 HD at it’s lowest 3x power can be used from 10 feet out.. cranking to 18x is more than adequate for the 700 yard Moose shot. Erstwhile Alex has his 5-25x scope which cannot be used on game under 40 yards as the 5x magnification is too strong. Then he cranks to 25x for his 350 yard Elk shot and wonders where’s da Elk? At 25x your FOV is too narrow to discern your targets vitals (at 350 yards). Then let’s start chatting about parallax at 25x, then sight picture (wobbly and wandering reticle) at 25x. That said, sure we would put a 5-25 on the .338 Lapua if you are going to shoot over 1200 yards.
LEUPOLD MOA TURRET: Any current manufacture high end rangefinder is programmable via Bluetooth. We use the Gunwerks BR4 rangefinder. Once the included ballistic data is entered on your phone app it transfers to your rangefinder. The rangefinder gives you a “shoot to” solution in yards AND MOA. It will tell you do dial to 12, or 22, or 37 depending on the range to target. You simply turn the MOA turret to that number and the reticle adjusts for range allowing you to hold dead on.
ATLAS DUOFOLD BIPOD: BT Industries quick detach bipod, duofold. Fold forward or backward as conditions demand. Bipod is on a quick release mount and can be popped on/off in seconds.
AMMUNITION: Ammunition is FACTORY ammo readily available in .338 Win Mag.
