KIMBER K6S DASA 4″ COMBAT MAGNAPORT QUAD CUSTOM W/ LOK + SPEEDLOADERS
MAGNAPORT
Magnaport Quadraport custom: Two compensated oval ports on each side of the barrel results in the shooter being more comfortable and able to return the gun to a firing position more quickly because of softer recoil. It is this characteristic that is responsible for it’s popularity amongst law enforcement personnel and competitive shooters. Extensive chronograph tests have been conducted proving that quadport’s do not influence velocities to any extent nor decrease accuracy. They do reduce recoil up to 33% which allows the end user to put more rounds on target faster and more accurately than a non compensated revolver.
LOK GRIPS
Kimber builds a phenomenal revolver and then falls into the industry wide trap of installing miniature grips so the revolver is “concealable”. Miniature grips on a .357 Magnum or a “Combat” revolver is beyond absurd; it is simply stupid. Fuller size LOK grips allow the end user to more easily control magnum recoil thus putting more rounds on target in a faster and more efficient manner. It has been our experience that they do not hinder OWB concealable carry.
* LOK Kimber K6S DASA |DAO Revolver Palm Swell grips are larger than the stock grips with an ergonomic shape that comfortably fills the palm of your hand.
* Veloce texture is a mix of aggressive textures running multiple directions to prevent slippage and keep you on target.
* Compatible with the included Kimber speedloaders
* G-10 composite garolite is a high-pressure fiberglass laminate. These grips were custom created by stacking multiple layers of glass cloth soaked in epoxy resin then compressed to form. G-10 is the toughest of the glass laminates. Favored for its high strength, low moisture absorption, and high level of electrical insulation and chemical resistance. These properties are maintained not only at room temperature but also under humid or moist conditions.
REVIEW
The K6s series of revolvers contains no MIM parts instead relying on components machined from bar stock in Kimber’s Yonkers facility. Manufacturing a Combat revolver is an expensive proposition, made even more so by this type of construction. Everything on this K6s Combat was machined from stainless steel.
Chambered in .357 Magnum. With modern heat-treated steels, such a gun no longer needs to be bulky in order to handle the pressures generated by this cartridge. This revolver is shockingly light and trim.
This Combat revolver is roughly the size of a Smith & Wesson K-frame revolver which makes for a very handy package. Compared to larger N-frame guns, the Combat looks downright tiny. The round-butt frame is just long enough to allow for a full-fingered grip on the gun, reducing another area that can ordinarily add bulk to a revolver.
The sides of the cylinder are milled flat between the chambers, which cuts down on width. The Combat weighs 29 ounces. If you were going to conceal a four-inch-barreled revolver, this would be a strong choice.
One-piece barrel has a unique ovate profile; a sign that cost-cutting isn’t a priority. The slab sided full-length underlug adds a bit of weight where it can be most effective in taming muzzle rise. The barrel-to-cylinder gap on the Combat measures 0.006 inch, which is on the tight (precision) side of an average revolver.
The six-shot cylinder on the K6s is counterbored, which means it is chambered so the rims of loaded cartridges are recessed within. This is an unusual addition on double-action revolvers because it requires additional machining operations. Yet another shortcut averted. Cylinders can be charged individually or using the included Kimber speedloaders.
The Combat byname suggests a revolver that will most likely be fired double-action. This double-action pull is smooth. There is no “stacking” of the trigger, and the only indication that the shot is about to break is the bolt locking into the cylinder notch. The single-action trigger is equally impressive breaking at a clean 3.3 pounds.
The K6s DASA uses two safeties. Kimber maintained the rebound safety found on the original K6s and added a transfer bar safety, which prevents the revolver from firing unless the trigger is pulled—a dual failsafe system. The entire K6s DASA Combat is completely de-horned for carry, meaning there are no sharp edges that will cut into skin or clothing. The brushed satin stainless steel finish is even and attractive.
