TWENTY FIVE (25) PERFORMANCE CENTER “PLUS” UNITS HAVE BEEN MANUFACTURED… WE HAVE FIFTEEN OF THESE CUSTOMS TOTAL. WHEN THEY ARE GONE THERE IS NO NO RE-SUPPLY!
NO SERIAL NUMBER CHOICES! PERFORMANCE CENTER CUSTOM COMPENSATED/PORTED L-COMP 586 SEVEN SHOT REVOLVERS WITH “PLUS” SMITH AND WESSON LOGO AMERICAN WALNUT FULL SIZE CUSTOM HAND BUILT GRIPS, CUSTOM 21ST CENTURY XS CQB TRITIUM SIGHTS, KENAI CENTER CHEST HOLSTER, BEAR BACK UP HAMMER AMMUNITION AND HUMANOID EXTIRPATION AMMUNITION

FROM SMITH & WESSON: Performance Center tuned action for smooth double action and crisp single action. The Performance Center 586 L-Comp is a 7 shot, mid-size revolver. Ported, full lug 3″ barrel. The standard Performance Center includes standard S&W revolver sights, miniature rubber grips and two fingered miniature rosewood grips. Limited run of 25 “PLUS” packaged combat units include professionally installed upgraded XS sights and three sets of grips.

PERFORMANCE CENTER W/ UPGRADED XS SIGHTS (PLUS EDITION): Photoluminescent green dot; tritium front sight center glows bright in lower light. These are 21st century Warfighter CQB sights. Instant acquisition for close quarter battle. Perfect for outdoor back up use. Professional install with POI certification.

SMITH & WESSON 40 YEAR OLD SIGHTS DESTROYED: The 19th century small blade sights on the original Performance Center revolvers were removed and destroyed along with their 55 year old ramp rear style sight. Even the Performance Center builds to a price point; ergo they would typically include the $12 set of standard S&W sights on all their product line offerings. As previously stated these useless sights were intentionally destroyed. Because they have no value.

SMITH & WESSON L ROUND CONVERSION COKE BOTTLE SQUARE GRIPS, FULL SIZE: The standard Performance Center 586 L-Comp includes the industry standard 2 finger miniature grips. The .357 Magnum cannot be controlled properly with two fingered miniature grips. These “PLUS” packaged grips were carved from a single piece of American Walnut; the texture, grain, color and character will flow through and match the opposite grip. These are considered “conversion” grips as they are true to the original S&W square butt revolver grips. The Smith & Wesson logo is on each side as is the ambidextrous thumb rest. The “PLUS” package also includes the miniature rosewood and rubber grips.

MURRAY CUSTOM RUG: Heavy saddle leather with full padded interior fleece aka Faux Sheepskin. Double stitched, full length wrap, brass YKK massive zipper. Murray brand stamped in the leather. Custom built. Your revolver can be thrown in a range bag or wherever while enclosed in this rug without sustaining any damage.

AMMUNITION #1: Humanoid Extirpation ammunition. Thin skinned mammals. Liberty Civil Defense. Caliber .38 Special not .357 Magnum. These .38 Special HT loads will allow you to effectively roll through and put numerous rounds on target in a fast and efficient manner insuring threat elimination. Reduced flash and recoil vs .357 Magnum assists you in a 3 to 1 comparison margin. “Our projectiles function differently than any other self-defense round on the market. We designed the Civil Defense line to eliminate threats with one round. We did this by creating the maximum amount of damage and tissue disruption possible. They do well against barriers, but when the large cavity fills with fluid, the hydraulic pressure builds until the side walls of the projectile explode. With that explosion comes rifle-sized temporary cavities and hydrostatic shock, therefore increasing stopping power by tenfold. Following the explosion, the bullet fragments into a starburst-shaped pattern creating multiple wound channels. This process also benefits in many other areas across the spectrum of things considered when talking about self-defense. Such as reduced over-penetration and lessening the risk of unintended casualties. Having a lighter projectile also leads to less muzzle flips for faster follow-up shots”. Nickel plated; insures cartridges are weatherproof. Will not “green” when exposed to long term installation. Five (5) boxes included, 100 rounds.

AMMUNITION #2: Outdoor back up; Bear, Mountain Lion, Winter in Detroit… Full boat .357 Magnum Thor Hammer cartridges. Horror rounds. Three feet of penetration. “Sometimes wild places can put you in a tight spot. That’s why Federal designed the Solid Core. Its extremely hard, flat-nose lead bullet holds together while blowing through bone, providing high weight retention and deep penetration. Syntech polymer jacket technology reduces the friction and leading that plague hardcast bullets”. These premier rounds are also nickel coated; reduced friction, weatherproof, 20 year storage not an issue.

AMMUNITION #3: FMJ full metal jacket ammunition. 250 rounds practice and/or outdoor use.

KENAI CENTER CHEST HOLSTER: Non catalog custom order Kenai rig is centered on your chest with the included Kenai harness. Extremely comfortable with instant access; can be worn over or under outer garments. Originally designed for Alaska bear back up the Kenai is morphed into an EDC holster for OTR drivers, the disabled, and those that have a use for the center chest ensemble.

COST/BUILD: You as a mere mortal cannot get these revolvers customized to the “PLUS” level but hey, let’s pretend! Find a NIB S&W Performance Center L-Comp 7 shot for $1466 shipped. Ship the entire revolver to XS in Texas; $139 for the sights, $135 labor and install. Then shipping. Call it $317. Full sized combat Walnut conversion grips $350. Murray custom rug $222. Liberty Civil Defense 5 boxes $210. Federal Syntech Bear Load 5 boxes $230. Note these are the nickel plated cartridges; there are some brass cartridges advertised which are cheaper. FMJ 250 rounds $125. Kenai center chest rig $233. Two HKS 7 round speed loaders included + two moon clips. Your cost to “build” your own and wait several moons would crack $3153.

RAMBLINGS: The Performance Center 586 revolver is an awesome build with a couple glaring issues “fixed” with the “PLUS” run of 25 revolvers. S&W ported the barrel in front of the front sight; smart move. Gases, carbon, powder are expelled behind the front sight so the sight itself will never become occluded or “burned” out by the expelled gases and heat. The finish is considered a “combat” finish with an unpolished flat matte bluing. Not particularly aesthetic but any scratches can be filled with oil and appear to disappear. Finish will wear and gain character; each revolver will have a cylinder ring where the Performance Center has test fired each revolver. These “L” frame revolvers in .357 Magnum can be utilized for all outdoor backup needs with appropriate ammunition and full sized grips. The 3 inch barrel has a full underlug which, along with the ported (compensated) barrel reduces recoil. Seven shot revolver, smooth trigger pull, chamfered for no snag carry.

The original S&W sights are truly pathetic. S&W quotes “generations of users are adapted to these sights”. Yeah. Your great great grandpa used the same sights. Advanced options are available that can make the difference in a true real world gunfight… such as the professionally installed XS package on these “PLUS” revolvers. If the factory S&W sights were still installed it would be limited to a “point and shoot” revolver in a CQB environment.

Industry wide revolver manufacturers continue to install cheap 2 finger grips on .357 Magnum revolvers with barrels 3 inches or under. Allegedly for EDC carry or as “back up” revolvers. That is fine for back up use with .38 Special cartridges but absurd for use with .357 Magnum cartridges. There is simply no way you can go the range and at 15 feet roll through your cylinder in a fast smooth and efficient manner putting 7 rounds on target. Nope. These grips and these sights in this revolver make it a truly awesome and efficient tool which will allow you to do so.

Numerous reasons to own several revolvers! Ease of operation. Simply pick up and jerk the trigger and it will go bang… so bad idea to leave lying around if you have kids. Great for home defense otherwise. Minimal learning curve. Minimal (no) maintenance. Throw in a drawer for 20 years and when you need it bang it will go. Phenomenal outdoor back up use.
