Description

THESE ARE ALL BRAND NEW NEVER ISSUED GOVERNMENT AND LAW ENFORCEMENT LEATHER JACKETS AVAILABLE AND LEGAL FOR CIVILIAN SALE! Individual listings for specific coats, states, and styles follow; consider this the “Info Page” for Rockegroup’s Leather! Heavy, thick, top grain cow hide, premier production to the highest Law Enforcement and Government Contract specifications. These are NOT thin shiny civilian fake coats you will find on e-bay; these are actual LE production. Each listing will have the weight of the coat including Thinsulate linings with full itemization(s) along with definitions/explanations of patches if needed.

NOTE NUMBER ONE (1): There is currently one distributor/manufacturer of leather police jackets in the United States. They recently switched to a “thinner more supple” leather which these are NOT. In my opinion the “thinner more supple” leather is cheaper; further it has 50% less abrasion resistance and frankly look, well, cheap. They work on an “order” basis with a three month quoted delivery date. Jackets are priced from $330 to $380 without shipping, without patches, typically without interior pockets (upcharge), liners (upcharge), etc. Their website clearly states on the homepage you can expect to pay $400 for one jacket and receive it in 3 months.. with the kinder more gentle “thinner more supple” leather. Ours are hard ass kick ass tough ass thick heavy leather and YOU will need to wear it and “break it in”.

NOTE NUMBER TWO (2) LEGALITY: All listed Fire Department jackets are legal everywhere, and typically all police jackets are legal everywhere with the following proviso.. do not where any jacket in the state or jurisdiction stated on the jacket! Should make sense; further, as an example, we would not sell a jacket which say’s “Illinois State Police” to anyone living in the state of Illinois. Chicago Police Department leather jackets are highly sought after by the “Rich & Famous” and are worn everywhere without a care or known issue; they are a fashion statement for the “haute couture”. The CPD discontinued authorization and issue of CPD leather jackets (more on that later) but you would have to be a wee bit of a dumbass to wear one in downtown Chicago (unless you are Rich & Famous). Here in Arizona Roxie wears a Miami Dade Police Department issue motorcycle jacket with the issue “pink” police patches which are authorized by Miami Dade PD one month out of the year (October) for “breast cancer awareness”. No issue, no problems. Jackets which say, for instance, “Denver Sheriff’s Dept.” are typically legal even in Denver (I think) as they denote the “Sheriff’s Department” of which you could be the janitor, or clerk, or coroner et al. “Denver County Sheriff” however is a declarative statement and again only a dumbass would where that in Denver County. All that said you are responsible for legal ramifications of wearing a jacket which say’s POLICE or SHERIFF on it NOT US. Jackets are sold as “costumes or collectibles”. Check with your local LEO for legality if you so desire and cannot figure it out!

NOTE NUMBER THREE (3): Twenty years ago leather jackets were issued or authorized nigh to everywhere; over 2000 law enforcement agencies authorized or issued heavy duty leather. As of today there may be a hundred or so such as the Georgia State Patrol that issue leather and another couple hundred that authorize the wearing of specific contract leather jackets. Why? Several reasons; here’s two: Twenty plus years ago California initiated “Civilian Review Boards” and although their recommendations were not mandatory if the Chiefie wanted to keep his job he kissed arse and followed said recommendations. It was found that Police Officer’s in leather “looked intimidating”, “threatening”, and “struck fear” in the minds of civilians and in order to form a more amicable relationship within the community leather had to go and police needed to look “nicer”. One of their analogies was that leather PD jackets were reminiscent of “Nazi’s”. Poof. Overnight, no leather. Over the next decade that spread nearly throughout the entire United States! Second reason was cost. Although numerous departments no longer issue leather it was, and is, still authorized- if the individual officer purchases it. From start to finish acquiring a new leather jacket matching contract proviso’s with patches, sewing, shipping, etc will run $400-$500 USD. Any officer with kids and a family can buy a Propper or Blauer for $55. Ok here’s a third reason.. half of all Police Officer’s anymore have dual duties. In addition to their primary job they may be on the SWAT unit, or EOD, or Search & Rescue, or what have you. Law Enforcement has evolved into so many numerous facets to include anti-terrorism that uniforms have evolved into tactical or combat ensembles with 18 pockets, MOLLE attachments, plate insertion systems, etc. SIDEBAR NOTE: Absolutely true story.. Government gave a grant to some University (and no I do not recall) to analyze “Law Enforcement Leather” specifically jackets (really not kidding) and their finding’s were kinda stunning. A Police Officer was found to be 62% LESS LIKELY to be assaulted when wearing a Leather Police Jacket than one not wearing leather! Guess they do like kinda intimidating..

NOTE NUMBER FOUR (4) BAR COATS: So why are Police Leather Jackets still in such high demand from both Police Officer’s AND Fire Fighter’s if not issued nor authorized? Bar coats. Let’s talk Fire Department’s first. Although huge strides have been taken in female recruitment in both the Fire and Police Departments both are still predominantly male enclaves. Like it or not most males like females and vice versa; and hey I DO NOT CARE what you like or do or if you are LBGXYZ or trans martian or whatever. I DO NOT CARE. DO WHATEVER YOU WANT. HAVE FUN. NONE OF MY BUSINESS. Got it? For the purposes of this story we are talking heterosexual males/females but adapt it to whatever your orientation is OK? It is no secret Police Officers have female groupies. It is no secret Fire Department males also have female groupies and vice versa (I freely admit a woman in uniform makes me look twice. Sometimes thrice. And yes on occasion my eyebrows go up.) That said younger single officer’s and firefighter’s need a means of conveying their awesomeness and stature to the civilian population by showing their elite status as Police Officer’s and Firefighters while out trolling for the opposite sex.. but how? Bar Coats. Leather Police Jackets and Leather Police Jackets with apropos fire and or police designation patches! It is forbidden and against regulations for any LEO or firefighter to wear their uniforms or “get up” in a bar or social gathering; but it is NOT against regs to wear unit crests or patches on leather jackets in those same social circles. Check out for instance the Denver Fire Department jacket with the “Faboulous Baker Boys” Engine 11 patches! Talk about a chick magnet (wait; can I say “chick magnet”?). I mean, cool. Super cool. If a female is wearing one males go nuts. Male wearing one females go nuts. Same with all other orientations.. are you really a fireman? What are the baker Boy’s? Where’s engine 11? Wanna go to my cousins quinceañera? I think you’re hot! On fire! Can I put you out?? I mean they are better than tattoo’s. Super ice breakers..

NOTE NUMBER FIVE (5): Told you these are the best. Thick tough leather. YKK “Exteme Duty” zippers. Underarm ventilation grommets. Double stitched pockets. Screw on/off buttons. Thinsulate linings, some permanent, some removable read individual listing(s). Back up snap system over zippers. Typically jackets have: Side ventilation zippers and or firearm access zippers. All Leather Badge Tab on Left Breast. Bi-Swing Back (a.k.a. Drop-shoulder) Design for Unrestricted Movement. Epaulets Sewn at Each Shoulder with Button Affixed at Opposite End w/ Silver “P” Buttons Standard (25 Ligne = 5/8″ dia.). 4 Interior Pockets (2 with Zippered Closures). 2 Dual-Entry Pleated Breast/Hand Pockets w/Flap and Affixed Buttons, Silver “P” Buttons Standard (25 Ligne = 5/8″ dia.). Side/Waistband Zippered Side Vents for Relaxed Fit While Seated, Provide Equipment/Weapon Access. Front Closure Double Storm/Flap Front with Affixed Buttons, Flap Snaps Down Over Front Zipper, Silver “P” Buttons Standard (35 Ligne = 7/8″ dia.). Sleeve/Cuff knit Nylon “Storm” Cuffs Sewn Into Sleeves. Kidney Fur Piece Across Back of Lining for Warmth, Comfort, protection.

FULL DISCLOSURE AGAIN: ALTHOUGH WE MAY WEAR OUR COATS “OUT AND ABOUT” THESE ARE SOLD AS COLLECTIBLES AND COSTUMES AND CONVEY NO LEGAL AUTHORITY WHATSOEVER. WE SELL THESE TO ADULTS SO ACT APPROPRIATELY AND AS SUCH USE COMMON SENSE. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO INSURE LEGALITY WHEREVER YOU RESIDE! STUPID IS AS STUPID DOES SO SAYETH FORREST!
